Sometimes and Always

Sometimes: I let my work pile up until the end of the month. Something about filing just does not excite me.
Always: I get started with so much vigor and get a lot of it done and then stop short of completing it and save the rest until next month(s).

Sometimes: Especially this week, I use the olympic coverage as good nap television.
Always: some events put me right to sleep! so I get the best nap that I have had in a long time.

Sometimes: I feel bad for Robin Roberts. This morning her jaw literally locked up on her in the middle of her report and she had to leave off the air in the middle of broadcast.
Always: I pray for her healing as if I know her.

Sometimes: I expect the worst or the same outcome as others because that's all I hear instead of expecting what is for me.
Always: When the worst doesn't happen then I am all the more thankful to God and continue to have my faith stretched for the best!

Sometimes: I am quoted a prescription price over the phone because my great horrible ok insurance decided to cover the procedure but not the medication.
Always: When it gets delivered, its a different price. Best believe I called and fussed galore about that. My file has been notated. LOL
Sometimes: I realize I write more here then I would probably have in a conversation with close friends.
Always: I find that its ok... afterall, I blog about my life and this what its all about.

Sometimes: When I can't make time for a vacation, I line up a day of on demand funny movies.
Always: Laughter is a great remedy for a stress free day!

Sometimes: My husband won't share with the world his accomplishments. I believe it was just how he was raised.
Always: I am wifely proud of his accomplishments so I tell the world for him!

So... my Husband the musician, is a songwriter and has gotten even more placements.. Not only will he have a song on Jonathan Nelson's latest record "Finish Strong" to be released later, he will have songs on Shekinah Glory Ministries upcoming album, a song entitled "Without You" and possible placement on Tye Tribbett's upcoming CD! GO HUBBY! Your wife is indeed PROUD OF YOU! and this is all within one year!

Monday's Musings

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend..
This weekend was all about family for me.

My little sister came down from New York so that we could go to our cousin Qiana's Bridal Shower.

The theme was Garden Party and hats were preferred... we all went with the Fascinator look for the party. Thats my little sister on the left and my little cousin, the Bride to be on the right..
These amazon height (5'11 and 6'0) young ladies had to stoop down to my height 5'7, which is short in my family.

Here is my little cousin with her mom who was so happy and emotional. I know for sure that she may be wailing at the wedding. My cousin did look beautiful that day. I don't know how any of us are going to have a dry eye.

My sister and I got the party started... it was so hot this weekend but we were determined to look like ladies and not take off these hot blazers and sweaters.. but it did protect our arms from the mosquitos.

I also tried a new lipstick that my sister brought home. It was a promo for an indie make up line. What do you think?

Last Night, I went to celebrate my best friends Birthday. We had a great time at Fogo de Chao, which apparently the food must've been so good because THIS is the only picture that I have from last night. These awesome candles when lit, the flame color was the color of the wick. I couldn't capture it so great in this picture but it was so cool in person.

Happy Birthday Jourdan!

Oh No! I am one of THOSE people

Dag! I realized it today as IT was back at my work computer once again fixing the holes that were created when they updated us to Windows 7, that I am one of THOSE people...

What type of people you may ask?!

I am a Microwave Society member... may as well admit it.
I am a card carrying member of 80's babies who were on the cusp of the information boom and now feel like I am catching up and staying with it all in the same token.
It's not all I have known.
I have remember when stories like a life without a cell phone, CD's and everything else they tried after that...life without Apple stores and the products they make to cripple help us.

I figured this out when I stood over the IT guy telling him over and over that the downloading bar was STUCK at 99% for the longest.
He walked away and helped someone else and I yelled at him that it still was NOT MOVING!
They laughed as I pressed buttons and the computer would ding back at me...taunting me.
I realized then.. I needed to take a chill pill.

Clearly I am a want it now person.
I constantly would have to pray to God for patience.
But, I think I have truly learned somewhat of a lesson on being careful for what you pray for.

God won't just answer your prayers sometimes, he will put you in situations to find your answer.

For example,
God doesn't just gift us patience. He puts in situations where we can't help but BE patient.

I guess I prayed for patience so much when it was wearing thin and I would be on the verge of explosion that God truly slowed me down and made me become patient through so many areas in my life.

I didn't get the career job started immediately. I had to apply 3 times for the same position just to be hired in a different one that was much better for me.

My husband and I didn't get married immediately or have that fairy tale story. I had to be patient and wait.

But in learning to wait in some areas, I can't help but to realize that I am work in progress.
And yes, although I can admit it's ok to rush technology...
I am still waiting on some things that just can't be microwaved.

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes: I don't how to start this type of post off...
Always: Something reminds me of things that I meant to say

Sometimes: I get super irritated when people waste my time and are late!
Always: I am late. LOL.

Sometimes: It irritates me with a passion when they cut things from the work computer. No more GChat, Pandora Radio, now no more YouTube because our Flash Player is gone!
Always: I try to negotiate with IT as to WHY I need such things in my life, which of course are all distractions from my job but, that's how I work more effectively. It's just me? ok.

Sometimes: I forget that I didn't put the umbrella back in my car when I come to work.
Always: I pray to the Lord above that all precipitation has come and gone by the time I get off. So far so good.

Sometimes: I wish I could go back to when I did not have a care in the world versus when I was trying to become grown so quickly.
Always: Thankful I can see the world through the eyes of the babies around me... it's the next best thing.

My god-daughter Kobie, at her family reunion. Those glasses were too cute not to share.

Monday's Musings

Well, we went to go see Dark Knight... twice actually this weekend. Yes we sat through 2 hours and 45 mins of movie twice! I can not lie, sitting in the movie theater you couldn't help but have some sort of post traumatic stress disorder symptoms after hearing about what happened in Aurora. At our theater there were uniformed police officers on each side patrolling the emergency exits and walking across the front as a visible sign of some sort of protection so that made me feel some what safe.

Either way, it was a great movie and I think a great ending to the trilogy. Can't wait to see what is next.

This weekend was also wedding weekend for my linesister Sherri... So hubby and I travelled to Delaware for the nuptials.

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Costango!

My beautiful linesister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at 24 years old and is a SURVIVOR! I thank God that she survived so that we could meet in 2010 and be sisters for life! I am so happy for her!

THEN Sunday, I went to my husbands church for his Bishop's Birthday. I LOVE going to special events there. First of all... can I just be a fan of the china! The one time in my life that I get to eat on Versace China until I become rich and can get some of my own... LOL.

As you see my brunch started off on a good start! Had my mixed green salad with Vidalia Onion dressing, a Grapefruit Izze and I was good to go!

THEN, it went down hill from there. I know... I should just learn how to say no, but I promise it was all so tempting. I think instead of saying no to food, I have to start saying yes to exercise more so that I can whatever I want. I don't think I am going to kick the food demon! LOL.

How was your weekend?!

Friday's Letters

Dear God, Bless those families of loved ones who lost their lives in Colorado going to see The Dark Knight Rises. Be with them as they try to cope with this tragic situation that we do not understand.

Dear Hubby, you know what day it is.. I STILL can't wait to see Dark Knight tonight. I wish we could've gone to Richmond to try out CineBistro but SOON. Hmmm... perhaps that will be our "getaway" for our anniversary?

Dear Target, why must you be a tempting warehouse of goodies we don't always need. I stumbled across the baby clearance trying to pick up a few items for a baby shower and saw girls leggings for $1.50 and 70% off. I called every homegirl I know with a baby girl and spread the word and then cleared the rack for one of my church babies! Major score in every size for cheap!

Dear JOB, WHY must you continue to do these computer updates at the most inconvenient time? And I have no idea why you people act like there aren't other things downloaded on it once you wipe it clean! Yes, I NEED my Adobe back.. don't be slick thinking you are cracking down on our YouTube watching! I have PDFs and what not that is crucial to my job being downloaded from other justice sites! Y'all are killing me!
This was my computer after one hour! Needless to say.. I did NOTHING the rest of the day.

Dear Octomom, Just stop! That is all.

Dear Field Days, I love thee.. just a day to get out of the office from time to time. Plus, the hilarious things that we see while we are out making our rounds.. it was way too funny when we hopped out the car at the Sheltar and they said "The Marshals, The Marshals!" .. LOL oh how I WISH!

Dear Washington, D.C., not sure how certain places became the way they did, but there are some beautiful places in the "hood" that overlook the entire city.

Dear Mom and Dad, I hope you are loving your new city and we can't wait to visit.

What's the 411 hun? (in my Mary J Blige voice)

As you can see I have YET to tackle that good ol' "About Me" Page... so much so that it is non-existent (for now) however, I love when some of my favorite bloggers post things that help us get to know each other better. If you want to know a tad bit more read here and here.

But for the purpose of this post. I will answer these questions and tell you a little bit more about myself.

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
I have been blogging for about 7 months now. I started blogging to kind of pass some time and get out some frustrations during the home buying process by reading blogs and posting ideas of what I wanted to do when I get around to decorating my own home. I thought that I would've been so gung ho about it all because I am crafty person, but lately I don't feel motivated to do much around the house. So... the blog changed to just be more about ME! My day to day thoughts and life experiences with my hubby with crafts and words of wisdom as I learn them through what I like to call Newlywed Adventures/ Experiences.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
I went to the great Mecca of HBCU's Howard University and I studied Administration of Justice with a minor in Fashion Merchandising (one reason why my husband hates it when I go to the mall).

3. Where have you traveled?
Lets see... within the states I have been to California, Texas, Lived in Chicago for a bit, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Delaware,Las Vegas... out of the country.. Canada, Mexico, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Bermuda, Bahamas, African Countries (Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique)... I am sure I am forgetting a few.

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
First thing, I would tithe... then I would buy my parents their dream retirement home.

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
It is hard to choose just 3...
1. People talking to me like I am a child.
2. Poor Customer Service on any level.
3. People who are the first to not encourage someone when they are trying to change their lives.

6. What is your favorite movie?
One thing about my husband and I, is that we go to the movies EVERY week... so we really have a favorite movie of the month.. this one I would say is.. Spiderman, but I LOVE Romantic Comedies.. I could watch Something Borrowed every time.. and Five Year Engagement.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
Wine - I love a good Moscato (red- it does exist and white moscato)... I could drink a Bud Light Lime or Corona with Grenedine while eating Crabs, but not so much any other time. Liquor... I guess I am a Vodka and Rum girl.. so any drink with those in it. I don't drink a lot of water.. I know BAD me! and I love Ginger Ale and then SWEET Peach Tea.

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Me time consists of Blog Reading and Pamper Me days.. so hair done, nails done, feet done.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
YIKES one store.. I guess it may just be Crate and Barrel or Arhaus.. as you can tell I would really like to finish furnishing my house!

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
I am not one to get embarassed easily. So I have nothing immediate that comes to mind. Like.. I am seriously thinking of something that may have happened and nope nothing. Dag. If one does I will come back and add it.

11. What day would you love to relive again?
I would love to relive my Wedding Day. It was such a beautiful day and I truly would love to relive every second of that day.

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
I would have to say.. it would have to be newcomer Tika Sumpter
No real rhyme or reason but I have seen her in a few things and she could possibly portray the many facets of my life and emotional self. I am one who is quick to shut you down but can be as sweet as pie if you are one who is for me!

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
Ok, so.. I was the one who got fired from Old Navy because I lied on the application about how old I am.. then I worked at Auntie Anne Pretzels and Hollywood Video. In College I worked in a Nail Salon without a license, I worked at a Natural Hair Care Salon and I worked at Circuit City Express in the mall.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
This is shortly after college.. at a Wedding in California.

15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
I think I have my heart set on going to Monte Carlo

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.
It's me and my boo.. and we working on expanding.

17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
Five Years from now, I see myself in Management at my job and active in ministry. Still doing what I do best and extremely happy with my marriage and my children.
