Friday's Letters

OK OK, so many things that I want to say today... so lets get started.

Dear Job, I LOVE YOU! Early Dismissal for a holiday that is on Monday?! I LOVE IT! Can't wait.

Dear Virgos, We RULE! I have a lot of friends and family that are Virgos... so Happy Birthday to Greg, Jarmone, Chris, Jamal, Antoine, Beyonce - LOL, Chris T., Fawn, Chris L. and I hope I didn't forget anyone.. oh that's right MY HUSBAND (Sept. 4th) and MEEEEEEEEEE (Sept. 14th)

Dear Hubby, I have a few things planned out for your Birthday. I can not wait to celebrate yet another year of life with you..

Dear Mom and Dad, Hope you had a Wonderful 44th Wedding Anniversary Dinner.

Dear Morehouse College, YOU WILL LOSE to the Howard University Bison just as you did last time. Don't know why you drive all the way up here from Atlanta just to lose, but so be it... GO BISON!

Dear Readers, so as you know I really didn't want to hop on the bandwagon to read 50 Shades of Anything.. but after two close girl friends of mines said that they were going to start reading, I decided that if I didn't have to pay for the books, I will read so we could discuss it together. Well... see picture above. I went from not caring to completely finishing the Trilogy in less then a week and then drove to Barnes and Noble after work so that I could sit there and finish reading the Epilogue along with the 50 Shades of Christian, which wasn't in my version of the book... Now redundancy and poor writing aside and words that were thrown in there for no reason to make them sound intelligent- it was a good plot. At least it was something to occupy a few evenings while my husband was working.

Is it me or does every man have about 50 shades of their own going on? Oh I am the only one that lives with a man who changes moods like the wind? and a face that you can't guess what it is that they are thinking? Ok, guess that will be a post for later. LOL

Now what to read? Any suggestions?

Dear random driver of this Mercedes Benz, THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving me this funny of the day! I mean really. THANK YOU!

Dear Mom, yeah you get two... why? because you are such a boss. You are completely hilarious and I am so proud of your accomplishments. Can't wait to see you on the DNC stage. I will be DVRing that for all to see.

Dear Giuliana and Bill, Congratulations on Edward Duke!

Dear Robin Roberts, I am still praying for your healing. Praying for your family with the loss of your mother last night. Talk about a strong woman. We hope to see you on GMA as soon as you can get back.

Dear 30 years, see you in two weeks. YIKES!

Happy 44th Anniversary

Look at these two love birds... My Parents.

They met when my Mother was in College at Morgan State University. My Dad had been drafted in the NBA to the Baltimore Bullets. My mother's roomate at the time was dating my Dad's Best Friend, Roomate and eventually Best Man, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. They met over a dinner at my Dad's apartment. That night, my Dad let my Mom know he was interested..

9 months later they were married.. and nope not because she was pregnant, but because they were in love. They actually didn't start having children until 10 years into their marriage.

My mom followed my dad to West Coast right after their wedding when he was sent to play for the Portland Trailblazers... and they have been following each other all over the world ever since.

This is what 44 years of following and supporting your Spouse's dream looks like. Of course my Dad no longer plays in the NBA, but my Mom is now the one on National platforms and they are truly loving every minute of it.

Happy 44th Wedding Anniversary you guys!
Thank you for being an awesome example for me and my Husband.

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes: I skip Monday Musings because I really don't have many pictures to recap the weekend or did anything special outside of lay in bed and read.
Always: I still thoroughly enjoy my weekend, even if I can't share with you what happened.

Sometimes: I don't feel very well on a Sunday and at times have to "call in sick".
Always: I attend virtually.. its almost like I am there.

Sometimes: I will place my iPad in the nearest bowl for surround sound effect. Who needs to spend money for a holder from the electronic store.
Always: When my husband sees this he shakes his head in disapproval. Its the world's cheapest hands free device.

Sometimes: Even if I bring my lunch to work, I still get caught up in my work that I don't take a break until 2pm.
Always: Regret the fact that I wait until I have a hunger headache before I eat.

Sometimes: I hated that I waited so long to read 50 shades of Grey.
Always: When I think about it, all the obvious overly sexual content aside, it is a page turner of a story. Just like Twilight and my random desire to read them all AFTER all the movies except Breaking Dawn had already been released.

Sometimes: I love going to Potbelly Sandwiches for Lunch
Always: Its never because I think their sandwiches are the best. Its because I love their hot pepper relish. Is it just me?
Sometimes: I get afraid that my 20's are fleeting and will be gone in a few weeks.
Always: I get anxious not knowing what my 30's really will entail.

Sometimes: I love being a Virgo.
Always: I LOVE being a VIRGO!

Friday's Letters: Fab Recap

Dear Friday, Thursday Night was great... can you do better?!

Dear Readers, first let me say that you are great! I said in this week's  Sometimes and Always that I would ONLY read 50 Shades of Grey if someone else got it for me because I could not bring myself to be interested enough to go out and be a consumer of the book... and in my inbox pops the digital copies of the trilogy! YOU ROCK! I guess it is an ask and you shall receive type of blogosphere. I love it.

Dear Tonia, Praying for you and your family and don't you forget it! Praying especially for Peace that surpasses all understanding.

Dear Readers again, yup you're getting two.. and that's because I want to recap you on what I did last night. The Fab Empire, was a blog that was created by my sister aka "DC Fab" ... well last night we celebrated in grand style as usual, the Anniversary of the Blog and celebrated how its readership and influence has grown.
The Fab Staff, minus Ashlee... I am a former Fab Bureau Chief

Dear Little Sister, Big Sis is proud of you! You got MAJOR sponsors to support your vision and that alone is tough. But they are so ride or die and every year you seem to impress me. Keep the nightlife in DC up to par. Someone has to do it, might as well be you. Plus, I think we had another Venus and Sarena looking moment last night. LOL.

Dear Lily, aka Miss Heiress,  thanks for hanging out with the Fab! Had a great time just sitting back and laughing all night long.
Lily and I, pictured here

Me, Lily, Josh and Deneia pictured here

Dear Josh, you are HILARIOUS! Glad to be able to call you friend. You are so dramatic. I know you only came for the gift bags, so you say.. but we left out of there so late that there were no more gift bags... not to mention we left so late that your car was locked in the Parking Garage... oops. LOL. Never a dull moment with you around.

This was Josh's reaction when they told us there were no more gift bags
...and Josh, I see why you were so upset... luckily my sister had this Gift bag set aside for me.. WOOHOO.

Dear Sponsors of the Fab Empire, You are the BEST!

Dear Hubby, Thanks for hanging out last night.. I got you for life.. and what more can a girl ask for. I know after your Birthday, the rest of the year is going to be hectic so its nights like this that I cherish.

Dear Recent Setback, I won't let you get me down. Things will work out in our favor and soon.

Dear 30, you are 3 weeks away. Not yet sure if I have accomplished all that I said I would by 30, but I am ready to see what is in store- with no regrets.
Have a FAB-u-lous Friday!

Sometimes and Always

Sometimes: I want to read 50 Shades of Grey to see what all the hype is about.
Always: I refuse to spend the funds so the only way it will happen will be from a borrowed book. Just not THAT interested.

Sometimes: We go out to support fellow local artists. My Classmate from Baltimore School for the Arts, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy released his first Gospel CD last night. It was amazing.
Always: I feel like the DMV has some of the BEST artists there is and wish that people could see it on a larger scale.

Sometimes: I stand in my house just amazed that it is truly ours and not rented or temporary.
Always: Just reminded of how blessed we really are. We are homeowners and blessed!

Sometimes: You come across other families and their family picture and you think to yourself " What were they thinking?!"
Always: It gives you a GREAT LAUGH! when they clearly weren't thinking at all.

Sometimes: I truly can't stand the smell of cigarettes.
Always: I believe it stemmed from the fact that my grandmother was a smoker and I couldn't stand it then.

Sometimes: There are just days that my husband will make me laugh non-stop and just be super sweet and the best gentleman I know.
Always: I love him for it all the more.

Sometimes: There are parts of sermons that just hit you the right way that you want to remember them forever.
Always: I put it in a Textgram so that I don't forget it. This is a quote from a prayer in my mom's sermon that she preached on Saturday morning.

Friday's Letters

Dear Friday, It is so nice to see you!

Dear Readers, from time to time we do things to impact the community to get people to register to vote. Last night, we had a rally to encourage people to get their ID so that they will be able to vote in the next election. It afforded me the opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones. (Jeff Johnson, Roland Martin, Stephen Green and Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. pictured with me).

Dear Stephen, Thanks for the pics from the event. Love the pictures with my mommy!
(pictured also is Past National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Rev. Gwen Boyd)

Dear 80's, come back to me! This was one of my favorite promos from McDonald's!

Dear Randomness of Life, there are certain things that make me giggle. Like Traffic Cops training for duty... something about newbies out there running from the cars that they are telling to "go" and "stop".

Dear Hubby, It's the weekend to go see Sparkle! YAY!

Dear Mommy, I am so happy you are home. Let's go to the movies together.

I'm taking my August workcation. I come into the office everyday and basically go on Pintrest until 5.

Sometimes: This very thought creeps into my mind.
Always: When they blocks on all the fun sites then I just find something else to do in my "down time."

Sometimes: I think about what I am going to eat for lunch on the ride into work.
Always: I wait until the last possible minute where I am starving beyond belief and still don't know what I want.

Sometimes: I wish I could just close my office door and take a full on nap for about an hour!
Always: I really think I can get away with this.. but have not even tried it.

Sometimes: At work we all leave our doors open and yell at each other down the hall.
Always: It makes the day go by faster!
