It's still Purple Friday in my house!

YUP!

One week later and there are still remnants of the Super Bowl lingering in the air!

Literally in my house.

It was definitely an exciting time for my hometown. People were everywhere. Over 200,000 people came out to cheer on the Baltimore Ravens as they returned to the M&T Bank Stadium to celebrate one last time.

This was the best reaction to the Celebration Parade for The Ravens by none other then Jacoby Jones, who was recently let go by The Texans only to come to The Ravens and now has a Super Bowl touchdown and ring.

I wish I couldve been there but duty called. But I definitely let my coworkers have it!

And now...

Show of the Week:

If you are not into Scandal, I have no idea what you watch on Thursday nights!

When I tell you last nights episode definitely led up to the hype.

I don't know what shocked me more: (spoiler alert)

1. The fact that Abby Came through and took one for the team.

2. The fact that Rosen got embarassed twice in open court and lost his job twice!

3. The fact that Cyrus almost had James killed then saved his life.

4. The fact that James saved Cyrus' life.

5. The fact that Verna told Fitz that she tried to kill him.

6. The fact that Fitz killed Verna?!

7. Lets go back to when Huck saves Hollis, then treatens to kill him too!

I mean really?! ?!?!

That show has my heart doing the most and my blood pressure is always super high when I am done watching. It is so good though!

And TELL of the Week:

This guy being the next love interest on Scandal. Well alrighty then!

Dear Hubby, the overcompensation that you do when I am in my moody season of the month is awesomesauce! to take me to work today and later to take me to the car show so we can dream about what car we will own next, just the break I need. You had me scared there for a minute with the shock to the system about you working on Valentine's Day.

Dear Ravens, thanks for the follow-through.

Dear Orioles, you are next! Although I don't know if my hometown would be able to survive the celebration!

Dear Sister, again you amaze me with how far you have come with your nightlife blog. The Fab Awards this weekend. Haven't missed them yet! so you got me as your ride along partna! Salon day with my little sister tomm. What could be better?

Dear 2013, I had some high expectations for the doors that you plan to open for me this year. Lets make magic happen! So far so good.. and the pace of it - its making me feel like I am back in undergrad..

Speaking of which, has it been 10 years already?! yikes!

Dear career, I think I just about have you figured out. I definitely need more hours in day to write the vision and make it plain.

And lastly but not least... Dear Readers, I have to share this with you because I don't usually get emotional and thought that when someone warned me about crying when I watch this, I didn't think it was even possible. Well, grab the tissues.

Friday's - The one we can depend on

This week -

Anyone tired of Manti Te'o going around and around in circles trying to explain this girlfriend who didn't exist. Although this guy admitted to being behind it, after listening to the voicemails I am convinced that guy is really covering up for his crazy cousin.

So moving on...

Another thing I am tired of hearing about -

BEYONCE lipsynching the Star Spangled Banner!

WHO CARES?! I have heard so much about it that I forgot what the President said in his speech and I was there! I mean that was the reason I sat outside freezing! Not to hear Beyonce sing! GE'EZ.

Lets be forreal here... the most played Star Spangled Banner is Whitney Houston's version and she lipsynched that performance and did so so convincing that she was even sweating in normal fashion at the end of it.

In a few years, folk will be playing Bey's version too.

And no it doesn't change what may happen to her Super Bowl performance.

After being in a few Orange Bowl halftime shows myself, I can definitely tell you it will be prerecorded. Every Enrique Eglasias song we had to dance to on that stage was prerecorded. Did it change my view of him? Nope. cause I was dancing my little heart out and it still took a lot of work to put on a good show. 

Lets just be smart here. Television can not pick up a live performance in an arena that large without making the person sound horrid.

At least she put on a good performance for those on stage - so what if her mic wasn't on.

NEXT!

Now, if you know me in real life you will know that I have always been a chocolate lover. However, I have what I like to refer to as "white boy crushes"... and man, here is one!

I am so freakin' happy that J.T. is coming back and is looking so good doing it. Mind you, I love him all the more because every time he is on SNL he is hilarious!

This one hits close to home because we are friends with persons who will be in his tour band. I am hoping and wishing and praying that I get the chance to see him in concert at least one time.. Until then, this will have to do.

And TELL IT!

My girl, Robin Roberts is making her come back and she looks good!

She is kicking Cancer and MDS int he rear! Cheers to you Robin. I love how her perserverance is for all to see. I will definitely be cheering through my television when she makes her return to my favorite morning show.

Dear Winter, I am glad that you waited until Inauguration was over to really turn up the dial. I hope that you stay with us on the East Coast is brief.

Dear Krystle, I am so proud of you for carrying out your vision of creating a network for Preacher's daughters. So glad that I had the chance to come out and support.

SN: Here is what I wore to the Launch Party.

I am not a girly girl all the time, but I feel like whenever you are going to an event that who's target audience is females, be as girly as you can be so that you don't show up wishing you came looking like the other person. Put a slight effort in your comfort wear but not so much that you look like over dressed suzy. If you top is jazzy, balance it out with some leather soldier boots - I wore mines with fur to dress it down and yet keep it stylish and WARM- its cold on the East Coast.

Dear every other Fan of a team that is not in the Super Bowl, Stop hating. Specifically my coworkers who talk so much trash against the Ravens and they have never once watched the Ravens play. Its fine, The Ravens are used to being the underdog and we (yup I feel like I play with them) are used to winning in spite of.

Dear Hubby, lets continue to make it better. I love ya babe!

Dear New Readers, thanks for the follows these past weeks. I have really been excited to correspond with some new people. I try my best to respond via email so make sure you are not a no-response commentor.

Show and Tell - Friday's Letters

I am a person who loves Entertainment News and is a faithful viewer once I get hooked on shows. My favorite segment on Good Morning America is Pop News (no surprise there) but I get it earnestly... my grandmother, The Late Ida Ann Murphy Smith Peters (yes, we all have super long names) used to be an entertainment columnist and literally was doing just that the day that she passed away. She did not retire, she got her wings doing what she loved best - just after she interviewed the latest R&B group.

And so, I have been itching to do weekly recaps of stories that have made me laugh or have caught my attention over the weeks because its like a time capsule.

Things have happened before I had this blog that I wish I documented where I was when such and such happened. Like for instance,

Where was I when Michael Jackson passed away? I was in Los Angeles actually, working for BET and working on the BET Awards. At the moment where Michael had passed and was rushed to the hospital, I was sitting in Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Los Angeles not too far from the hospital where he was taken. It shook my very being, because to me MJ was kinda Invincible (yes, like his album title). Being in LA when he passed, it meant that I was literally driving by the Staples Center where he was practicing almost 5 times a day- my hotel was literally behind it. It meant when I opened my door the next day to go to work at the arena, I read "King of Pop, Dead at 50" on the paper left at my door. When I thought I would just be in shock - it hit a little harder then I expected just being there. I guess it was just a spirit in the air that I just didn't anticipate. I backed up into my hotel room, turned on the news, just to check if it was real. It was so unbelievable... I went to work late that day, because I sat there and I cried. It was sad that he was working so hard for that tour and passed away the night before he was to leave for London.

Where was I when Whitney Houston passed away? I was in the movie theater and couldn't believe my eyes as I read the news on my twitter feed. Same result, but actually, no tears.. I love Whitney's music but her life literally caught up with her. 

Losing great musical talents back to back was almost just numbing.. it seemed like as soon as folk reappeared on some BET special they were passing away. Remember it happened to Rick James, Tina Marie, Heavy D... 

And so, moving forward - I bring you my weekly round-up called "Show and Tell" - a recap of sorts of my favorite shows and crazy happenings in the news.

First Mention this week goes to none other then

FLOTUS with the mostest!

This week has been a good week for FLOTUS - she got herself a new twitter account @FLOTUS and got herself a new haircut. She is turning heads! 49 never looked so good... and to top off her hot weekend - she is going to be with her hubby as he is sworn in again as our President.  No mind you she isn't the first to invent the layered bob with bangs, but for some reason it really compliments the shape of her face well- thus all the hoopla.

 

So, the jury is still out as to whether or not I believe that Manti Te'o is a part of the hoax that involves his fake girlfriend dying of Cancer. Poor thing, I think he got had and the only thing he could think of was to kill her off in his mind- with cancer. I know that if I were dating an imaginary man for three years whom I have been on the phone with and built relationships with their "family" over the phone too, I'd kill them off with cancer. Perhaps he's just too nice- I feel like he is so unbelievable with this tale because after three years, the guy behind it admitted what happened and how it got out of control and Manti immediately just forgave him. Please! You are better then me, I have to say.

Crazy chick on TV award goes to...

My secret pleasure is catching the tail-end of The Bachelor each week: The crazy chick on TV award goes to Amanda- hands down that chick is off! either that or is definitely playing the game well and not there to make friends with chicks who also want "her man".

AND then we have Scandal -- I swear when I watch this show my entire timeline on twitter goes crazy. Its like we are all sitting at my house watching it together... and then Fitz not only wakes up from his coma after being shot in the head by a crazy assassin hired by someone who helped he get elected -- he then decides to ask the First Lady for a divorce after she helped save his job as President... I mean really?!? Olivia doesn't want to be your second wife?? how would that look?

NO FITZ - NO!

Dear Sissy, I had a ball hanging with you during Delta Centennial. I look at this pic and even Tiffany in the background and realize 20+ years later, the three of us are sorority sisters still having a ball dancing it up!

Dear Baltimore, why did you do this to me- side ponytail with fingerwaves and finger waved bangs?? ok.

Dear Hair, you were long when I was a child.. praying for my hands even now for my unborn daughter... i remember vividly what it took to tame all of that.

Dear younger self, no worries about those questions they keep asking you "what do you want to be when you grow up?" when you reach 30 you still won't know but it will be the best ride of your life! You will have no regrets! If I could warn you of one thing - it will be that people will expect that since you look like your mom that your body types will be the same, please note that when you meet more of your dad's side of the family, you will feel at home with the rest of the curvy Bohemian women.

Dear Hubby, I am glad that I get to hang with you all weekend for Inauguration - I have been home all week and feel like I still miss you because I have been majorly grumpy with my work schedule adjustment.. It will pay off though because I come home early today and I now have a 5 day weekend.

Last but not least, my dear Baltimore Ravens, YOU GOT THIS! Billy Cundiff is no longer on the team. We can definitely go all the way this year.
