So, 2013... Here you are!

Anbody else like me trying to recover from New Years Eve still? I mean New Years Day was just not enough! My internal clock is all messed up and to top it off I had to take a case to court at work today...
Well... Its 2013- and I am excited. Already somehow I am feeling more confident in the New Year!
This is how I spent my New Years Eve:
I went to my church for "Watch Night Service" and Gospel Recording Artist J.J. Hairston and Youthful Praise came and led worship.

My Pastor preached and it got so good at one point that everyone just came up to the altar- so we just prayed in the New Year.

Of course, I can't go to church without loving on the babies, so me and my buddy Blake were hanging out most of the night - he is only 8 months and so inquisitive.

After church ended around 12:30am, I took my one hour commute back to my house for a Chicken and Waffles Fellowship. When I got home, people were already there - I was so tired because I had been at church since about 5pm so I had to take me a quick power nap from 2am to 3am while hubby entertained with PS3 game playing.

Once, I got up, I was up!
It was time to get in the kitchen and get started on some french vanilla waffles. I even made my special buffalo sauce for the wings my hubby was putting in the deep fryer - needless to say they were a HIT!

This picture was taken at about 5:45am - and we were just getting started - we were fed and happy and still ready to celebrate some more ... and there are a few people still missing from this picture. LOL

We played girls vs boys taboo and had a ball! The ladies won of course!

Then once that was over, we made it a point to not go to sleep until the sky turned blue again - we waited for the official sunrise time and then went to sleep (when Good Morning America came on)

Also, January is a very important month because this month marks the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of my Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.

My Great-Grandmother is the one that is fourth from the left on the front row

Delta Sigma Theta was founded by 22 students who had earlier been initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha. Seven of them were the elected officers of the chapter: Myra Davis Hemmings, president; Ethel Cuff Black, vice-president; Edith Motte Young, secretary; Jessie McGuire Dent, corresponding secretary; Winona Cargile Alexander, custodian; Frederica Chase Dodd, sergeant-at-arms; and Pauline Oberdorfer Minor, treasurer. The 22 were dismayed at progress and wanted to reorganize the sorority. The new initiates wanted to establish a national organization, enlarge the scope of the sorority's activities, and change its name to reflect a true purpose, as they felt Alpha Kappa Alpha was solely a female derivative of Alpha Phi Alpha with no individual meaning. They also wanted to change the symbols, change the sorority colors and be more politically oriented. In 1912 at Howard University, these 22 undergraduates voted to change the organization's name to Delta Sigma Theta. This new name was to reflect the group's desire to change the direction of the group and change in the philosophical underpinnings. The collegiate students sought to move towards social activism and greater public service, rather than social activities.

I am so hype right now!
I can not wait until my Sorors get to Washington, DC. We are about to paint the town RED!

We kicked off Centennial Celebration by participating in the Rose Bowl Parade with our very own float.

My Family is planning a huge celebration to celebrate the legacy of our Founder, my great grandmother Vashti Turley Murphy - so I can't wait to share that with you.

Until then, I am going to be at the mall trying to get my hands on everything Crimson and Cream to wear the week of January 13th!

Let 2013 begin!
