So I am so excited to share today some tidbits from my wedding -
I planned my wedding and for me it made everything that went into less generic and more with purpose.

One of the things that I loved the most is what I will share with you -
my dresses

The whole wedding dress process was one that I was so nervous about. Its harder when your mother has a hectic schedule so more often then not, if I would've waited for my mother to come into town, my dress would not have been there on time.

I tried to go dress shopping with all of my bridesmaids at one popular shop and that was a headache and disaster - little focus and way too many opinions when I already knew that I wanted something a little out the box for me. So I left that day with zero dress.
I took my Matron of Honor with me to one Bridal Shop for a Trunk Show and ended up buying a dress that day...and loved it but then realized - it was cool to walk down the aisle but not 100% what I was looking for in the shock and awe dept.
The blessing of this dress is that it was comfortable and didn't require any alterations besides the bustle and it had pockets! perfect for walking down the aisle and shoving handkerchiefs and cell phones in there. hehee.

But one day shortly before the wedding, I decided to go to one more Bridal Shop, alone and look for a reception dress. Something with a little more fit and fun to it. I couldn't try it on because I am clearly not a sample size, but I knew that it would be THEE one!

I left with purchasing this one - all alone and all me.

I did make it special for my mom though- I made all pick up dates within the weekend that she came home so that I could try them on for the first time while she was in town. She saw the first dress - suggested I get a veil - then we went to the second store and said OH this is definitely you!

She asked why did I need two, but knew right away because of my shape that I wouldn't feel comfortable standing at the altar that long in something so form fitting but definitely had no problem partying in it. I dont know why - it just didnt seem church appropriate.

Another tidbit I want to share from Wedding Day, is the special moment of pre-wedding gifts to my parents. My parents gifted so much while I was getting married. I just wanted to give my mother something that she could wear in the wedding and something cute for later on..

Little did I know, she had a gift for me too! I mean, what more could I ask for.

She passed down a piece of jewelry, a large amethyst and gold ring that I have to this day. I also walked down the aisle with my Great Grandmother's diamond necklace. (not shown here) but it was so wonderful to be surprised like that.

I love my Wedding Day for all its special moments.
